The Freedom District Lions Club’s Medical Equipment Committee has shared its latest report, covering September 16 through October 15, 2026, and it was a busy month of service to our community.
During that period, an estimated 59 people were helped. Our Lions made or received at least 98 phone calls to handle 36 loaned, 38 returned, and 18 donated pieces of medical equipment. Items loaned out included wheelchairs, walkers, and rollators (five of each), transport chairs, commode and tub chairs, a hospital bed, bed rails, and ice therapy machines. Volunteers gave an estimated 28.75 hours to make it all happen.
Since the new Lions year began on July 1, 2026, the committee has helped approximately 222 people.
Thank you to the 12 Lions who served: Jerry Apicella, Gary Buchman, Tess Carroll, Ralph Chiaramonte, Rich Collins, Tony Dercola, Bruce Edwards, Steve Hansen, Bob Hodgkiss, Katrina Hebert, Beth James, and Phil Salmon. Special thanks to committee co-chairs Lion Jerry Apicella and Lion Phil Salmon.
