Kate Renehan assisted by her daughter, Abby Cafiero, told the Lions about Abby’s treatment and experience dealing with a rare form of brain cancer detected when she was age 4. Based on their experiences, they determined that a wagon is very useful for children undergoing hospital treatment for cancer and they formed “Abby’sCarts of Courage”, a non-profit foundation to provide wagons to children with cancer. The wagons can carry not only the child but clothing, toys, etc.-much more convenient than a stroller or other vehicles, Lion Mike Shavatt, a member of the FDLC Childhood Cancer Committee presented a check from the club to Renehan and Abby to help fund their charitable work.
