WE SERVE.
In 1947, members of the Westminster Lions Club assisted by representatives from the national office of the International Association of Lions Club held several meetings with local business people and other leaders in the Sykesville and Eldersburg area to interest them in forming a Lions service club. Thirty-seven men stepped forward to become the Charter Members of the newly formed Freedom District Lions Club. The club from its very beginning recognized the need to recruit new members and change their fund raising and community service activities as the needs of the community and the passions of the members changed. The membership is now about 3 times its size when chartered and new members continue to bring new ideas for service to the club that intensifies our members’ enthusiasm and increases the benefits to our communities. If you are new to the area and interested in becoming involved in your community, we hope you will take a little time to look through this website and if you see a project or two that look like something you would enjoy doing, please consider joining our service club. We would love to be in fellowship and service with you.
