This page explains what information the Freedom District Lions Club collects through fdlionsclub.org, why we collect it, and how to reach us with questions. We keep it short and plain.
Information you give us
- Contact form: When you use the contact form at the bottom of our pages, we receive your name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message. We use this only to answer you.
- Member accounts: When you sign up for or use a member account, we collect your username, password, name, email address, and the billing address and phone number you enter at sign-up. We use this to run your membership and the members-only pages.
- Events and tickets: When you register or get tickets for an event, we collect your name and email address so we can confirm your spot. If an event asks for payment, the payment is handled by a payment company (such as Stripe or PayPal). We do not keep your full card number on our website.
Information collected automatically
- Visit statistics: We use Jetpack, a service from Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com), to count visits and see which pages are popular. It records things like the page you viewed, your browser type and your IP address. We only look at the totals.
- Security: Jetpack also watches for login attacks, which means it records the IP address of login attempts.
- Fonts and page tools: To display our pages, your browser loads fonts from Google Fonts and a few common page tools from public code libraries (jsDelivr, cdnjs, unpkg and jQuery). These services can see your IP address when they send those files.
Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies, which are tiny files saved by your browser. They keep you signed in to your member account, remember your place during member sign-up or event checkout, and support the visit statistics above. We do not use advertising cookies.
How we use and share information
We use your information only for club business: answering messages, running memberships and events, and keeping the website working and safe. We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with the services named on this page that help run the website, or when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep contact messages and event registrations only as long as we need them for club business. Member account details are kept while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Children
Our website is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. You can also set your browser to block or delete cookies, although member sign-in will not work without them.
