On April 30, Freedom District Lions Club host our annual Veteran’s Appreciation Banquet. This event is very well attended. We saw so many new faces this year. We appreciate all our Veterans and current Service Members and love that we are able to honor them with this dinner.
Our guest speaker is Alison Malachowski. She is a Former Marine Sergeant. After leaving the Marine Corps, she owned her own business for 25 years, and is now fully retired. She is involved in the community by volunteering with the Carroll County Parks and Recreation, and also volunteers at the Bridging Life Hospice facility focusing on veteran’s end of life care. She is the mother of two children, both of whom served in the military. The bridge over Liberty Reservoir on Rte. 140 is named after her son, SSgt James Malachowski who was killed in action.
